Merren Audio has been in business since 1984. We have been in California for the last 7 years. We were originally located in Caldwell, NJ servicing Hi-End audio and musical instrument amplifiers.
Sometime in the early 80's I met the late Ken Fisher and we instantly became friends. He always provided exceptional insight and constructive feedback on my first reproduction AC30 and Marshall output transformers. It wasn't quite right until Ken gave his approval... Ken was always friendly and informative to anyone who needed his help, especially those just starting out in electronics. I carry on this tradition in providing a professional, friendly and informative atmosphere to my customers and people I meet.
Merren Audio has been mostly an "underground" alternative for transformers and amplifiers, producing low volume hand made audio electronics. This website is an effort to provide product and contact information previously not easily available.
Our first replacement transformers were reproductions of classic Hi-Fi transformers such as the McIntosh Unity-Coupled output transformers and QUAD II transformers.
By the early 1990's Merren Audio produced a full line of replacement transformers for McIntosh, VOX, Hiwatt, Marshall and Fender amplifiers in addition to custom designs.
Merren Audio is a small company dedicated to high quality design and craftmanship.
Our transformers are hand wound one at a time with lots of TLC and pride.
